The National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) is preparing to hire staff for the newly created Office of Government Information Services (OGIS), commonly known as the FOIA Ombudsman's Office. The Office will be headed by Department of Justice and NARA veteran Miriam Nisbet. OGIS is responsible for reviewing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) activities government-wide and assisting in resolution disputes between requesters and agencies.
NARA is looking for mid-to-senior (GS-13/14) level Management Analysts and an Attorney Advisor with a background in FOIA compliancy, law, and information and/or public policy. Formal vacancy announcement(s) are forthcoming (late summer 2009).
