Josh Gerstein of Politico reports that the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board is subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act ("FACA"). FACA requires a great deal of transparency, with certain meetings and documents only able to be withheld if the committee follows certain rules to do so.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon this site, which is government run and appears to be an on-line repository of Federal Advisory Committee Act ("FACA") material for government agencies. GSA has informed me that this is not meant as a way to place these materials outside of the individual agency websites; agencies are still required to make this information public on their own. However, as some agencies tend to want to make it difficult to find their FACA material, as my civic duty, I am publicizing the site!
For those of you new to FACA, the act requires certain committee's (usually ones that utilize non government personnel) to operate in the open so that the public can see what they are up to and comment on their deliberations.
