Helen Foster is the HUD FOIA Officer - however in a whistleblower compliant, she alleges she was pulled off handling high profile FOIA requests because she was perceived to be a Democrat. Further, she was tasked with redecorating HUD Secretary Ben Carson's office and was told that the statutory limit of $5,000 wasn't enough for the job and advised to find ways around that limit. The Guardian reports on the entire matter.
There was widespread criticism and lawsuits when there were allegations that the Obama administration played politics with FOIA requests. To date, the media seems to be giving the current President and his minions a pass on doing the same (or possibly worse things) as far as FOIA and politics.
