A bipartisan letter from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has been sent to the Department of Justice concerning a number of issues dealing with the FOIA as part of the committee's oversight duties. The letter seeks answers and documents on multiple issues, including FOIA backlogs, fees and discretionary disclosures. The letter seeks answers by February 22, 2013.
The committee has obviously done its homework on issues that the Executive Branch needs to vastly improve on its FOIA performance. Hopefully, this process will continue to be bipartisan and result in a better FOIA for everyone.
