Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has issued a statement in time for the anniversary of the FOIA. In his statement, the Senator urges the passage of the Faster FOIA Act. This act convened a panel to come up with ideas to make the FOIA work better.
My readers know that I have been a critic of this bill. My criticism is not because I don't want the FOIA to work better and faster, which in fact I do. I believe that there are enough ideas out there already that Sen. Leahy and his staff could just come up with a bill implementing these ideas rather than create a two step solution to improve FOIA operations.
