The FOIA gives agencies 20 working days to respond to FOIA requests (even though one agency representative told me when I was checking the status that this was just a "guideline"). The Project on Government Oversight ("POGO") recently made a 100 FOIA requests and has this finding on the 20 working day response rate. Their is plenty of room for improvement.
