Justin Elliot writes about how the U.S. secrecy system is out of control and basically ignores directives from the President to be transparent in this offering in Salon.com. Elliot cites a number of examples how the bureaucracy moves slowly to declassify material, missing important schedules and goals of the President. (For fans of this blog, Elliot cites the 50,000 declassified JFK documents piece I wrote earlier this week as one of the examples).
