The Blog of the Legal Times reports that Judge Royce Lamberth of the District Court for the District of Columbia has ordered the release of President Richard Nixon's grand jury testimony concerning the Watergate Investigation. The Judge made the decision following a petition to the court by historians.
The Justice Department has opposed the petition -- showing it to be again on the opposite side of its own leader and the President on their calls for greater government transparency. The issue at Justice will now be whether or not to appeal the order. Hopefully, someone believing in government transparency and openness will have a seat at the table.
