According to sources, President Obama will issue an Executive Order later today announcing that his administration will allow all government records over five years old to be released without exemption except for those implicating national security. Further, the Executive Order will drop all appeals on losses suffered by the government in FOIA litigation as well as drop the defense of all lawsuits on records older than five years old or implicating national security.
Update: you can't fool my readers. However, an across the board time period for release would be a welcome and helpful way to make discretionary disclosures much more prevalent.
This sounds like an April Fool's joke.
