ComputerWorld reports that the Electronic Privacy Information Center ("EPIC") has filed a FOIA lawsuit against the National Security Agency ("NSA") in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The lawsuit concerns a request made to NSA by EPIC for details on the authority NSA was granted on domestic cybersecurity matters under National Security Presidential Directive 54 (NPSD54). The directive is classified, is also known as Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21, and was issued during the Bush Administration. NSA has thus far declined to provide the requested material.
The article also reports that EPIC has requested material concerning the NSA-Google collaboration, in which Google has sought assistance from NSA in protecting itself from Chinese cyber attacks.
