The Secret Service has released visitor logs pertaining to Republican activists implicated in the Jack Abramoff scandal. The release came about as part of a settlement of a FOIA lawsuit brought by the Democrats.
According to press reports, the release came only after the White House and Secret Service threatened to claim that the information was protected by the executive privilege because the records would show how the White House goes about its deliberations in policy matters. Saner minds, however, have prevailed and the documents have now been released. It is doubtful that future White House deliberations about policy will be harmed by this release.
